WOW, what a year 2024 was! I attended a couple of really awesome bookish events and acquired many signed books that I was so excited to include in this recap! While I didn’t read nearly as much as I normally do, I found more time for reading while balancing being a mom and a full-time employee!
Let’s dive in!
January 2024 –
In January, I received the limited edition version of Inside the Devil’s Nest by John Durgin! This version’s cover is just so wonderfully creepy, I couldn’t help myself! I love how John numbered these on the signature page as well, playing off the white space in the illustration!
This month, the amazing Mary SanGiovanni retweeted my favorite reads of 2024 list with such a kind comment! <3
Mary posted:
“A good list from one of horror’s hardest-working reviewers.”
February 2024 –
I snagged another killer limited edition book in February! I had been searching for a copy of this one since I missed the limited edition drop and I couldn’t believe it when I finally found one on PangoBooks! The book was Sallow Bend by Alan Baxter. Just check out these edges:
March 2024 –
Kangas Kahn Publishing posted that many of the reviewers for October Screams were added to the first page of the vintage version! I was honored to see mine included: ” ... jam-packed with twenty-seven amazing tales of Halloween horror!“
This month I also snagged a signed copy of Ronald Kelly’s Restless Shadows and Hailey Piper’s Cranberry Cove!
April 2024 –
This month, I had a writer reach out to ask if I would be interested in providing a blurb about creating a cozy reading nook. How perfect?! I jumped right in. I’m so excited to be included in Mindful Living at Home: 13 Little Ways to Stay Intentional by Julia Weaver!
This month I was also gifted a signed copy of We’re Not Ourselves Today, an anthology by Lydia Prime and Jill Girardi!
May 2024 –
This month, a book that I had the absolute honor of reading early launched. The book was Find Him and Kill Him by Cody J. Thompson! This story is WILD. If you haven’t yet picked this one up, I highly recommend doing so!
This month I also had two of my preorders arrive! I was so excited to add Kat Silva’s latest, Undead Folk, as well as John Durgin’s latest, Kosa, to my shelves!
June 2024 –
June marked the month when I finally got out of the house for my first book event of the year! And what an event it was! Hosted by the amazing Ryan of Gibson’s Bookstore, the event was a panel featuring three of my favorite people; John Durgin, Eric LaRocca, and Paul Tremblay! It was so amazing to see John and Eric, who I am so lucky to call friends and this was the second time I met Paul, and he is just one of the funniest people. I had such a blast and got to see other amazing people who were in attendance!
This was a great month for signed books! I was able to get the following signed copies for my shelves:
- The Vast by Matthew Wildasin
- The Conservators Collection – signed by John Durgin
- Kosa by John Durgin
- This Skin Was Once Mine and Other Disturbances by Eric LaRocca
- Horror Movie by Paul Tremblay
- Middle of the Night by Riley Sager
July 2024 –
My birthday month brought a couple of signed books by some of my favorites my way! I’m so grateful!
- Blank Space by John Durgin
- The Devil’s Backbone by Ronald Kelly, Laurel Hightower and Red Lagoe
August & September –
Unfortunately, not much to report during this time! I was too busy saving up for October! 🙂
October 2024 –
This month brought the event I was looking forward to all year, the Merrimack Valley Book Festival!
Between Merrimack and a book event at Gibsons, I was able to get many books that I already owned signed as well as bring in a few new ones:
November & December 2024 –
Ah jeeze. I lost all control of my calendar toward the end of the year! I’m sure I’m missing things here, but one book I know for sure came in during this time was my copy of Nothingland – Book 3 of In The Deadlands by Kat Silva! I still cannot wait to dive into this one! It’s next up on my physical TBR!
Thanks for reading!
If you’ve made it this far, thank you so much for being a part of my 2024, and have a wonderful 2025!
