Interview with Blogger, Lauren Becker
What is your first memory of reading for fun?
I wish I could remember the first book I ever read on my own, but I can’t. I don’t remember a time where I wasn’t reading. When I was really young, I loved picture books like The Rainbow Fish. I read the first Harry Potter book when I was seven and fell in love.
How many books have you read so far in 2019?
88 as of July 1st!
What are some of your other interests outside of reading?
I love being crafty, and I attend as many craft events at my local libraries as I can. I started dancing as an adult and I love it. Right now I do Cardio Hip Hop and Tap. I’m also a big fan of musicals/plays and going to the movies!
What genres do you reach for the most?
I read a lot of thrillers/mysteries and I love anything LGBT+.
Do you have an all time favorite book or author?
Tough question! I love J.K. Rowling because I enjoy all of her work, not just Harry Potter. A favorite book would be The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, though I have other favorites too!

You’ve hit your 12 year milestone! What are some lessons that you’ve learned along the way?
It’s okay to say no to book requests (it’s an honor to be asked, but we don’t always have the time or interest). Always remember why you love blogging, but it’s okay to take breaks! Talk to people in the blog community – on their blogs or social media – and get to know people. All the people in the blogosphere is the main reason I keep blogging!
Do you have a favorite type of post to write?
Not really, though I’m trying to mix it up more. I like discussion and personal posts, so I want to do more of those in the future. I like book reviews where I can add something extra such as a song that I think fits the book or an item you can add to the book to make a fun gift!
What’s a blog post that you wish had gotten a bit more traffic?
This post actually got a good amount of comments, but I think it’s an important topic and one that I hope to talk about more on the blog: Let’s Talk About Anxiety.
