Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer, where you answer a question and join a “hop”. The purpose is to help bloggers discover and get to know one another.
For this week’s question, Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer asked:
What is one horror novel that you would recommend to non-horror readers.
My answer:
Oh my gosh! What a difficult question! My answer for this would really depend on other elements that the non-horror reader is okay with. For example, are they okay with gore or not?
Hmm.. To play it safe, I would recommend The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King. This is one of the first adult horror novels that I remember reading and today it is still one of my all time favorites! Every time I am out in the woods, I think of this book…
It’s not too heavy on the horror element as many other Stephen King books, but the thought alone of being lost in the woods will really stick with you!
Thanks for reading!
If you’re a horror fan, what book would you recommend to non-horror readers?
I still need to read this one!
Along the lines of this, I think I would recommend Gwendy's Button Box. It's mild as far as horror goes but you still get a taste of King's world building.
Oooh! I haven't read that one yet. I'll have to check it out!
I've seen Stephen King as so many of the answers today haha.
I'd recommend Fir by Sharon Gosling.

Hah! Oh, I'll have to check that one out!
This is one of the few King novels that I haven't read yet. I'll definitely have to check it out. Have a great weekend. – Katie
Great pick I choose a classic horror book I really need to check out Stephen King son Joe Hill books because I know I would really love and enjoy his books. Thank you so much for sharing your awesome post my friend.
I've loved every book I've read by Joe Hill! He's my favorite!
That is a tough one. People don’t like horror for several different reasons so it’s hard to pick just one. I have read this Stephen King. I need to.
Right?!
I KNEW this would be mentioned today by you!!
<3
Ooh, this is a Stephen King one I've not come across before.
It's so so so good!!
I agree, there are different types of horror – being alone in the woods would definitely make the story scarier for me!
With the kind of horror I read, I wouldn't dare recommend anything to non horror fans!
I started reading horror only this year. I just got It by Stephen King and I am looking forward to reading that!
Oooh!! Enjoy!!
That is a difficult questions to be sure. I'd probably go with Dunn's Geek Love since it's more literary but horrible too
Ooh! I'll have to check that out!
Great pick!!! The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is one of my favorite Stephen King titles. I need to reread it sometime.
