Malignant by Michaelbrent Collings is a very tense and brutal story of every parents worst nightmare; a hostage situation unfolding at a school.
CW: Torture, trafficking, gun violence, death of children
Full disclosure: I was given a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This did not affect my rating in any way.
Let’s dive in!
My Thoughts on Malignant by Michaelbrent Collings
This is a story that, if the content warnings didn’t steer you away, you just need to dive into for yourself.
I won’t comment much here, but I will say that this was one of the most brutal things I’ve read.
The overall plot was so well thought out. When the puzzle pieces begin to fall together, you’ll realize that the author thought of everything and that was perfectly laid out in the story itself.
But be warned, this is a page-turner! Once you dive in, you’ll want to see it right through to the end.
My Favorite Passages from Malignant

Some people had to die. Some people would receive far worse.
It wasn’t important. But then, how often in life do we actually focus on what’s important? Not often, and not nearly as much as we should.
My Final Thoughts on Malignant
While I never want to see people lose their lives, in the real world, or in fiction, this story certainly had me uncomfortably happy seeing some of the revenge come into play. What horrible people…
Fans of crime horror, this is a must read!
