The Merrimack Valley Halloween Book Festival was held on October 19th, 2024, and I’m so excited that I was able to attend this year after missing 2023!
Due to financial reasons, I had a very strict 5-book-purchase rule. But did I stick to it?
Let’s find out! 😉
My Thoughts on the 2024 Merrimack Valley Halloween Book Festival –
While I wasn’t able to stay for long this year, I planned ahead and had a list of who I wanted to see, who I needed to snag photos with, who I had books for to sign, who I wanted to purchase from, and other such things. This helped immensely so I wasn’t wandering around aimlessly trying to remember everyone. Though my brain is still mush (thanks mom-brain!) and while I was able to get many photos, there are a bunch of people I missed. Emma Gibbon, Mike Clark, and Glen Rolfe were three authors I wanted to get photos with again this year and I totally forgot to get photos with my reading friends who were there! Next year, George, Paul, Mike, Char, and Ryan!
Even so, I was very excited to see everyone! Some friends I hadn’t seen in years while some I had never met in person! So it was such a blast all around!
Going in order in the gallery below; Wesley Southard, Rowan Hill, Alyssa Alessi, Robert P. Ottone, Mike Sullivan, Ali and Eric LaRocca, Kat Silva, Daniel Kraus, John Lynch and Todd Keisling, Rebecca Rowland, Clay McLeod Chapman, and John Durgin.
Because I had such a strict purchasing limit, I brought a large stack of books that I already owned to have signed! Major thanks to all of the authors who were so generous and happy to sign these!
The gallery below shows the mix of books I brought along with the ones I purchased:
As for the books I purchased while there… I did it! I only got 5! This was VERY different from my massive splurge when I first attended back in 2022, but I am very happy with it! It was also quite shocking but equally lovely to see that I owned or had read all of the books available from some of my favorites, like Kat Silva, Emma J Gibbon, and John Durgin!
The books I purchased this year included:
- The Legend of Mildred Wells by Michael Clark
- I know, I have like three versions of this at this point, BUT LOOK AT THAT COVER!
- No Fair Maidens From Earth To Mars by Rowan Hill
- THAT COVER TOO! My goodness. I cannot wait to dive into these tales!
- Christmas Eve Carnage by John Lynch
- Yet again, LOOK AT THAT COVER! Saving this one to kick off my holiday reading for the upcoming season!
- The Better To Eat You With by Wesley Southard
- The coverrrrrr. Are we seeing a trend this year? Wesley is one of my all-time favorite authors, and I have been eagerly awaiting this one!
- The Final Gate by Wesley Southard
- So turns out, I already owned this one… Opps… But not this version! That cover is too good!
Another solid book fest! I had been looking forward to this event all year and had such a good time.
Major thanks to Christopher Golden for organizing and to the Haverhill Public Library for hosting!
Bring on the Merrimack Valley Book Fest in 2025!
